Mercy Medical Clinic is a non-profit, volunteer ministry that seeks to follow the example of Christ Jesus by addressing both the physical and spiritual needs of those in the community who are not eligible for healthcare coverage. Since our beginning over 1,000 volunteers from our local medical community, churches, and Auburn University have enthusiastically volunteered to help provide medical services to those in need and share the Gospel with interested patients. In addition to our volunteers we also maintain a small number of dedicated employees to provide oversight for the clinic.
To share the love of Jesus Christ and His good news of hope through providing quality, compassionate medical care to the medically underserved in Alabama.
After returning from a medical mission trip to Africa in 1995, Dr. Dell Crosby had seen the great need for medical aid in other countries, but questioned why he couldn’t help the people of his own city who have medical needs. Five years later Dr. Crosby’s dream of opening a low-cost clinic for those with no means of paying for health insurance became a reality. Since opening its doors in 2000, the clinic has served as a source of peace and strength to the community. As part of Dr. Crosby’s vision patients arriving at the clinic are not only offered medical care, but also have the opportunity to meet with Christian counselors if they choose to do so. Dr. Crosby continues to work as an emergency room physician at East Alabama Medical Center when he is not volunteering at the clinic.
